Senator Cynthia Villar was the keynote speaker at Philippine Food Safety Conference 2015 of Philippine Food Safety Movement, with the theme: "Moving Towards a Sustainable Food Safety System in the Philippines."

 

She emphasized that staunch commitment to food safety will give the Philippines a competitive edge especially with the regional economic integration under the ASEAN Economic Community or AEC unfolding by the end of this year. Focus on food safety is also high on the agenda of the implementation of AEC. Senator Villar is also planning to review the implementation of Food Safety Law of 2013, to avoid incidents of food poisoning and other food-related health hazards.
